With summer in full swing and COVID-19 on the decline in most areas, this is the perfect time to get out to a library, archive, cemetery, or Family History Center to do some long-overdue genealogy research!

Research Trip Rules of the Road
This month’s Genealogy Blog Party prompt is simple.
- Select one “destination” person from your genealogy database or files for whom you have little or no information.
- Map out a research plan. This could include: 1) locating vital records, immigration records, biographies, etc., 2) recording information from all available census years, 3) or something completely different. Make your research plan work for you based on the ancestor for whom you are searching!
- Share your discoveries in a blog post or on social media (check out our FAQs to learn how to share from social media).
And if that isn’t easy enough, there are 3 ways to participate:
- Take a physical research trip to one or more brick-and-mortar research facilities. These can be nearby in your local area, or somewhere that you have to travel a distance to visit.
- If you aren’t comfortable leaving the house yet, or if you just can’t get out to research right now, take a virtual research trip using online resources only. Here’s an example of a virtual research trip.
- No time for either? Write about a research trip you took in the past or share a previously published blog post on the topic.
