The Genealogy Blog Party: Veterans, Military, and First Responders

One of our most popular Genealogy Blog Party themes has always been the one dedicated to honoring the veterans and military in our family.
What’s different this year is that I’ve decided to include first responders in the theme.
Why? Because police, firefighters, and medical personnel have been on the “front lines” of fighting the global COVID-19 pandemic. It’s time that we tell their stories, as well.
Share Your Stories of Veterans, Military, and First Responders
Suggested topics for this month’s theme include (but are not limited to):
- Ancestors who served in the military
- Ancestors who served as police or firefighters
- Ancestors who practiced medicine
- Ancestors who did all of the above (i.e., a military doctor)
- Stories of first responders who worked during the pandemic
- A special first responder who helped you during the pandemic
- Your own military and/or first responder story
- Photos, letters, diaries detailing service
- Reunion groups
- Regimental histories
- Grave markers for military and/or first responders
- Obituaries and newspaper articles mentioning military and/or first responder service
- Medals, awards, and ephemera
- Lineage societies that honor military and/or first responders
- Resources for researching military and first responders
I can’t wait to read your posts about military and first responders!
